The Cape Fear Youth Triathlon Team’s (CFYTT) mission is to provide a comprehensive triathlon training program for youth in the greater Cape Fear Region of Southeast North Carolina. We are focused on achieving our goals of healthy living, increased accessibility, including those of differing abilities, and identifying potential high performing youth athletes. These goals will reflect the team’s overall core values of fun, fast, friendship.
The team will be led by Sami Winter (USAT Level III/Youth and Junior Coach), Kitty Clark Cole (Dietician, certified health and triathlon Level I/Youth and Junior Coach), and Trent Hayden (USAT Level I/Youth and Junior Coach). We feel that our combined experience, spanning over 60 years of triathlon training and racing, will provide our youth with the best possible outcomes and shared love for the sport.
Located in Wilmington, North Carolina, we are grateful for the unique opportunity this part of the country provides to our sport. With Ironman North Carolina 70.3 (Sami Winter serving as Race Director) and the Wrightsville Beach Triathlon (oldest sprint triathlon in the US, Trent Hayden/Kitty Clark Cole direct the youth race). The community of supporters, which includes the growing Cape Fear Triathlon Club, is actively involved in the formation of CFYTT. This combination of factors provides a great location to develop and foster the youth and future of our sport.
